You bought the ring. You asked the parents. Now it is time to plan the perfect marriage proposal! Maybe you already have some ideas in mind, or perhaps you don’t even know where to start. Though it may seem overwhelming, worry not my friend! Check out these quick tips to help you pop the question.
Tips to Plan the Perfect Marriage Proposal
1. Choose a beautiful or meaningful location.
Where did you have your first date? What is your future fiance’s favorite place? Pick a location that is special for the two of you. Remember, the right location also depends on their personality. Would they want a crowd applauding after saying yes, or would they rather have it be an intimate affair? Take this into consideration when deciding where to get down on one knee (and DO get down on one knee!)
2. Timing is everything.
Once you have made the decision to propose, it can be hard to contain your excitement and wait for the right time. But practice patience. Select a day and take the time to prepare. Then, when the moment is right, take a deep breath and go for it.
3. Hire a professional photographer to capture the moment.
Want to relive the proposal? Have a professional photographer hidden nearby to take photos as the scene unfolds. Later, you can even use these photos to announce your engagement or on your Save the Dates!
4. Tell your love why you want to marry them.
Before getting down on one knee, take a moment to speak from the heart. This does not need to be a long speech, just sincere. What is it about them that you can’t live without? Talk of your future together and how much that excites you. Be sweet, or serious or funny – just be you.
5. Celebrate – you’re engaged!
Plan a fun and romantic evening afterward to celebrate your engagement! Pack a picnic or go out for a fancy dinner. Yell it from the rooftops if you would like! Whatever you choose to do, pause for a moment and soak it all in. You get to marry the love of your life!

Chris contacted us months in advance – he was traveling to Oahu with his wonderful girlfriend Brooke and was ready to ask her to be his wife. We talked through the plan and found the right location down by the beach. We selected the right time, so the beautiful Hawaiian sun would be setting behind them. While Chris professed his unending love for Brooke and asked her to marry him, we captured the moment so they would have incredible pictures to look back on. Afterwards, they celebrated with a beautiful dinner at Four Seasons Resort Oahu at Ko Olina! Simple, but so romantic and special. Congratulations Chris and Brooke!
