Last week, we pleasure of taking engagement photos at Alan Davis Beach for Jason and Mary. It was a beautiful day a Makapu’u, and we loved hearing their story. Jason was born and raised in Hawaii and spent his summers in Kauai farm country. Mary transplanted both herself and her love for running to Hawaii in 2011. This is their story, as told by the bride-to-be:
“We first met in church. As friends we would do a lot of things with groups or friends and Jason was always a gentleman, making it a point to take good care of all his female friends. Shared in hobbies like fishing, camping, drinking coffee, reading, helped our friendship grow. Soon we started meeting as just the two of us to do devotionals together. We’d talk about our dreams and what we’re really passionate about: relationships and furthering the Kingdom.
One day he told me that his feelings for me had grown beyond friendship. At first I was a little taken aback and nervous that our friendship would be ruined, but his gentle persistence and love softened my heart. It wasn’t too long before I fell deeply in love with Jason.
I knew I wanted to marry him when I took Jason to meet my family in Oregon and he said, ‘Your spirit comes alive here, it’s amazing to watch. I want to go with you to the places your spirit comes alive. Where you want to be, that’s where we’ll go.’ ”
Jason and Mary will be getting married in Oregon on October 9th, and we could not be more excited for them. Congratulations you two!
